The Trump administration is announcing another round of deals aimed at lowering prescription drug prices for Americans.
President Donald Trump said nine pharmaceutical companies—including Alcon, Astellas Pharma, BeOne Medicines, BridgeBio, CSL, Kyowa Kirin, Sun Pharma, Teva Pharmaceuticals and UCB—have agreed to provide their lowest drug prices to American patients.

President Donald Trump has struck deals with nine more pharmaceutical companies to slash drug prices for patients.
Trump announced the deals with Alcon, Astellas Pharma, BeOne Medicines, BridgeBio, CSL, Kyowa Kirin, Sun Pharma, Teva Pharmaceuticals, and UCB on Monday in the Oval Office while flanked by pharmaceutical executives.

The agreements ensure that every state Medicaid program will have access to MFN drug prices for all nine companies’ products, which the White House projects will save Americans across the country billions of dollars.
The latest agreements build on deals already reached with 17 pharmaceutical companies, bringing the total number of companies committed to lowering drug prices to 26.
Trump said the companies involved represent roughly 90% of the domestic pharmaceutical market, adding that he expects the remaining companies to follow suit.
“With today’s announcement, we now have 26 companies representing 90% of the domestic pharmaceutical market, and the other 10% are also coming in,” Trump said. “They have no choice.”
The announcement is part of Mr. Trump’s “most-favored-nation” drug pricing policy, aimed at offering drugs in the U.S. at a comparable price to that in other developed nations. The effort involves selling discounted drugs directly to consumers on TrumpRx, a website the Trump administration launched in February, where Americans can get discounts on name-brand medications.
Seventeen pharmaceutical companies have already agreed to voluntarily lower their drug prices as part of the “most favored nation” deal over the last year, according to the White House.

The nine new firms that have agreed to offer consumer discounts are midsize pharmaceutical firms, according to a White House fact sheet. They include Alcon, Astellas Pharma, BeOne Medicines, BridgeBio, CSL, Kyowa Kirin, Sun Pharma, Teva Pharmaceuticals and UCB.
