The Venezuelan migrant charged with murdering Laken Riley allegedly beat her so brutally with an unidentified object that he disfigured her skull, according to new affidavits.
Jose Antonio Ibarra, 26, who faces multiple murder and assault charges, is not thought to have known the 22-year-old nursing student when he allegedly kidnapped and killed her as she went for a run on the University of Georgia campus Thursday.
Her cause of death had only been given as blunt force trauma, with new charging documents accusing Ibarra of causing “great bodily harm with an object,” without specifying exactly what it was.
But the suspect was also charged with aggravated battery for “seriously disfiguring her body … by disfiguring her skull,” according to the affidavits shared by Fox News.

Allyson Phillips, the mother of Laken Riley, publicly expressed her condemnation of President Joe Biden’s mispronunciation of her late daughter’s name during the recent State of the Union (SOTU) address.
Laken Riley, the 22-year-old tragically murdered, became an unintended focal point of political contention when President Biden, in an attempt to address the issue of violence, mistakenly referred to her as “Lincoln Riley,” a notable figure in college football, not once, but twice during his speech.
This slip of the tongue did not go unnoticed, particularly by Riley’s grieving mother, Allyson Phillips, who took to social media to voice her frustration and dismay.
Responding to a Facebook comment, Phillips did not mince words, stating, “Biden does not even KNOW my child’s name – it’s pathetic! If you are going to say her name (even when forced to do so) at least say the right name!”

The parents of Laken Riley, a 22-year-old nursing student who police say was killed by a man who illegally crossed the border, are attending Donald Trump’s rally Saturday in Georgia and met with the former president backstage, according to Trump co-campaign manager Chris LaCivita.
Trump has repeatedly invoked Riley’s death as he rails against illegal immigration and pushes his hardline immigration proposals, including a mass deportation of undocumented immigrants. His campaign on Saturday passed out signs to supporters with Riley’s photo and “Say Her Name” written on them. LaCivita said the campaign spoke to Riley’s parents about using her image on the signs.
LaCivita criticized President Joe Biden, who said earlier Saturday in an interview with MSNBC that he should have used the word “undocumented” instead of “illegal” when describing Riley’s suspected killer in his State of the Union address.
“He’s more interested in apologizing for using the correct term to define the killer as opposed to apologizing to the parents,” LaCivita told reporters.
