Trump Goes Off On Fake News After Outlets Banned From White House Announce Lawsuit

President Donald Trump said the White House is not carrying out an assault on the free press, saying instead that it is targeting what he described as “FAKE NEWS.”
In the post, Trump said he “cherish[es]” the free press but argued that what he called fake news has “grown like Cancer” in the United States.
He described it as “corrupt, purposeful, pervasive, fully coordinated, and totally out of control,” and said it represents a threat to national security. Trump concluded by saying the phenomenon “must be stopped, NOW!”
The White House is not instituting an assault on the Free Press, something which I cherish. It is instituting an assault on the FAKE NEWS, something that has grown like Cancer in our beloved United States of America. It is corrupt, purposeful, pervasive, fully coordinated, and totally out of control. It is a threat to our National Security, and must be stopped, NOW! Thank you for your attention to this matter. This post came after CNN, MS NOW and POLITICO said they are filing a lawsuit against the government after the White House revoked their journalists’ credentials, which they say happened without notice or due process and because of objections to their reporting.
In a joint statement, the outlets said the lawsuit seeks to protect their First Amendment rights and defend the principle that the government should not decide what the press reports or publishes.
They said leaving the decision unchallenged could threaten press freedom and the public’s right to independent journalism free from government interference.
