President Donald Trump called out New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, accusing her of siding with Canada in a dispute over trade and the naming of Lake Ontario.
In a post, Trump called Hochul “weak and ineffective” and argued that her approach leaves New York vulnerable to being taken advantage of. He also endorsed Bruce Blakeman for governor, portraying him as a tougher alternative who would focus on lowering taxes and fighting crime.
Trump also added, “Governor Kathy Hochul is for Canada, a Country that has been ripping off New York State for years, especially under her Administration, instead of the good ‘ol U.S.A.”
Stupid Governor Kathy Hochul, who doesn’t care about New York State, has announced that she is on the side of Canada, which has been ripping us off for decades on Trade and Tariffs, with a specific target of Hochul and her State. They’re aiming at her because they consider her Weak and Ineffective — Not nice! She doesn’t want us to use the name, “Lake America,” she’d rather have Canada get a win. “New York won’t be calling it that,” Hochul wrote on social platform X.
According to the Center for Great Lakes Literacy, Lake Ontario’s name means “lake of shining waters” and includes around 5.6 million Americans and Canadians in its watershed. The lake borders Canada’s Ontario province and New York — connecting the Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean through the St. Lawrence Seaway.
Hochul has been critical of the trade war and bashed Trump for “treating our allies as enemies,” saying that “American families continue to suffer because of it.”
