North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper is reportedly no longer in the running for Vice President.

The New York Times reported that Roy Cooper is pulling his name from consideration.

North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper is no longer in the running to be Vice President Kamala Harris’s running mate this election season, according to The New York Times.

The Times reported on Monday evening that Cooper informed Harris’ team about his decision to withdraw. It’s unclear what caused him to withdraw.

Cooper has been considered a top contender to be Harris’ running mate in recent days.

Other names that have been mentioned as possible candidates are Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Sen. Mark Kelly and Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro.

The New York Post reported:

A handful of vice presidential candidates have risen to the top of voter preference in the first week of Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential run, with Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly and Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro taking the top spots.

An ABC/Ipsos poll published Sunday showed Buttigieg with the highest approval rating (29%) of any of the potential VP candidates on Harris’ list.

The other candidates fell just behind with the following approval ratings: 22% for Kelly; 21% for California Gov. Gavin Newsom; 20% for Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer; and 17% for Shapiro.
