Democrats are increasingly worried that the scandal surrounding Hunter Biden could be a drag on President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign, much the way Hillary Clinton’s emails dominated her failed bid for the presidency in 2016, strategists tell The Messenger.
“I have a pit in my stomach about it,” said one Democratic strategist who worked on Clinton’s 2016 campaign. “The email controversy was silly but it was made to be a distraction and it worked.”
But the first son’s legal and personal troubles are anything but frivolous.
“This Hunter story has the legs to ruin things for Biden,” the Democratic insider added.
